This team of specially-selected employees was tasked with creating sustainable increases employee engagement in the UofL Athletic Department.

The goal

This team’s goal is to increase employee engagement throughout the department. They will focus on increasing engagement in three ways: implementing an improved awards system, improving job design, and supporting the development of improved supervisor-employee relationships.

Backstory

Athletic departments are intense places to work at any major university, and the past few years have been especially intense for University of Louisville Athletics.

Despite this intensity, the employees of UofL athletics have faithfully toiled the through difficult times to help students athletes to thrive, teams to win, and the university and the city to be proud. They put in long, largely thankless, hours in for years. Eventually, this becomes exhausting and overwhelming. However, if no systemic action is taken to address this, nothing will change. College athletics is relentless. For the benefit of the employees, and to help the Department retain its talent, this team is working to rejuvenate its employees by improving employee awards, job design, and supervisor-employee relationships.
